Charging at home is the cheapest and most convenient way to run an electric car, and it starts with a properly installed charge point. Electrix Electrical fits 7kW single-phase chargers for houses and 22kW three-phase units for workplaces and larger properties across Sheffield, Rotherham and the surrounding South Yorkshire area.
Every installation starts with a look at your existing supply and consumer unit. We check the earthing arrangement, confirm the incoming supply can support the extra load, and pick a mounting position that suits where you park. If your consumer unit needs a spare way or an upgrade to accept the new circuit, we tell you before any work starts.

Why choose a Zappi charger?
Zappi is made by myenergi in the UK and is the charger we recommend most often. It has a built-in earthing system, so most installs need no separate earth rod, and it can divert surplus solar generation straight into your car if you have panels. Its scheduling works with off-peak EV tariffs so the car charges when electricity is cheapest.
We are happy to install other makes if you already have one in mind, but the Zappi is the unit we know best and can support long after the installation.
OZEV grants and smart charger regulations
Government OZEV grant funding may be available for eligible installations, for example renters, flat owners and landlords. Eligibility rules change, so ask us when you book and we will tell you what applies to your property. All chargers we fit meet the UK smart charge point regulations.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most home installations are completed in half a day. Longer cable runs, a consumer unit upgrade or a three-phase workplace installation can take a full day.
Do I need a three-phase supply for a home charger?
No. A standard single-phase domestic supply supports a 7kW charger, which adds around 25 to 30 miles of range per hour. Three-phase 22kW units are usually for workplaces or properties that already have a three-phase supply.
Can the charger work with my solar panels?
Yes. The Zappi has a dedicated eco mode that uses surplus solar generation to charge the car, and can be set to top up from the grid only when you need it.
