Old rewireable fuse boxes and early plastic units offer very little protection against electric shock or fire. We replace them with metal-clad 18th Edition consumer units fitted with individual RCBOs, so a fault on one circuit no longer takes out the whole house, plus surge protection (SPD) and AFDD options where appropriate. A consumer unit upgrade typically takes a day and includes testing every circuit, correcting any earthing and bonding defects found, and issuing an Electrical Installation Certificate registered through NAPIT.
An EICR is a full inspection and test of a property's fixed wiring, graded C1, C2, C3 or FI so you know exactly what is unsafe and what is merely improvable. Landlords in England must hold a satisfactory EICR renewed at least every five years under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector Regulations, and we supply the report in a format letting agents accept. We also carry out EICRs for home buyers and sellers, and fixed wire testing for businesses, with any remedial work quoted clearly and never pushed. Book an EICR.
Good lighting changes a room more than almost any other electrical job. We design and install LED downlights, dimmable circuits, under-cabinet and plinth lighting for kitchens, IP-rated fittings and extractor fans for bathrooms and wet rooms, feature and media wall lighting, and staircase and hallway schemes. Outside we fit garden lighting, driveway and PIR security lighting, floodlights and outdoor sockets. Existing wiring can usually be reused, and we finish with the fittings tested, the switching arranged how you want it, and the plasterwork left tidy.
