Everyday electrical work for Sheffield homes
Most of our domestic work is the everyday jobs that make a home safer and easier to live in: additional sockets and USB outlets, replacing damaged switches and fittings, cooker and electric shower circuits, outdoor sockets and lighting, smoke and heat alarm systems, and tracing the cause of a circuit that keeps tripping.
Ash and Ian carry out the work themselves, so the person who quotes the job is the person who turns up to do it. We dust-sheet as we go, keep chasing to a minimum, and leave the property clean.
Full and partial house rewires
If your wiring is more than 25 to 30 years old, has rubber or fabric-covered cables, or still runs from a rewireable fuse box, a rewire is often the safest long-term answer. A full rewire replaces every circuit in the property, including new cabling, back boxes, sockets, switches, lighting points and a new 18th Edition consumer unit.
A partial rewire targets the circuits that need it, for example the kitchen and bathroom during a refurbishment, while sound circuits are tested and left in place. If you are not sure which you need, an EICR will show the condition of the existing installation first.

Certification you can rely on
Because Electrix Electrical is NAPIT and Part P registered, notifiable work such as new circuits, consumer units and work in kitchens and bathrooms is certified and registered with Building Control on your behalf. You receive the paperwork that solicitors, letting agents and insurers ask for.

Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Not usually. Many customers stay in the property. We work room by room, keep power on where we can overnight, and agree the order of work with you at the start.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Signs include a rewireable fuse box, old round-pin or discoloured sockets, rubber or lead-sheathed cables, frequent tripping and burning smells. An EICR gives a definitive answer and lists exactly what needs attention.
Will I get a certificate for smaller jobs?
Yes. Minor works such as adding a socket get a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. New circuits and consumer units get a full Electrical Installation Certificate and Building Control notification.
